Abstract

The notebook documents Daniel Denison Streeter's collecting in Africa, Ceylon [Sri Lanka], Sumatra (Indonesia), Borneo, Celebes, and Bali, 1898-1912, for the U.S. National Museum. The notebook is numbered for specimens 1001-1306. Entries list specimen type, date, location, and remarks about collector, reference to landmarks,and appearance. Entry data varies. Some entries include corresponding specimen numbers. There are notes, possibly in a different hand, indicating reptiles and amphibians are now specimen number (USNM catalog) 49780-49802 and 82189-82274. These correspond with the additional specimen numbers in the entries. Locations include Sahara desert; Colombo and Sri Lanka; Petoemboekan, Sumatra; Baloi [Ayer Baloi]; River Makam; Boeleleng [Kecamatan Buleleng], Bali; Johor, Malaysia.
