Abstract

This field book contains Mearns's “Notes of a collecting trip to the San Francisco Mountains, Arizona, May 20 to June 20, 1887”, which includes an index, itinerary, and poem "To Capt. Leonard Heary". Localities include Fort Verde and Beaver Creek. Collector numbers for specimens are 5396-5406. The index lists horned toads and reptiles and batrachians, but no collector numbers are given for these. Also included is a table organized by species. Each entry has a date, collector number and measurements. The table goes from 568 to 5540. Also included is “Mammals in the vicinity of Flagstaff", which discusses commonality and abundance and locations the species was seen or shot previously. Also includes list of birds seen at Flagstaff. Notes on how “to go from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon" are included at the end. other miscellaneous notes are included.
