Abstract

This volume contains daily journal entries and specimen lists of birds and mammals seen and collected from 1 September 1885 to 5 June 1886 in Fort Verde (currently Camp Verde), Arizona. Collector numbers 4188-4880 (birds) and 238-406 (mammals) are included. Also included are the following: correspondence (Elliot Coues to William Rice); itineraries; description of birds; a "List of Mammals wanted by Professor J. A. Allen for the Exhibition Collection of the American Museum of Natural History"; and an index of bird and mammal species in this volume.
