Abstract

This is 10 of 13 envelopes of 8 photographs documenting Bohumil Shimek's travel and work in the southeast United States, 1936. Photographs are numbered and some include descriptions on the reverse side. Most images are of oil facilities in Sulphur, Louisiana. Subject matter includes oil derricks and storage tanks; refining facility; storage tanks; magnolia tree; dead cypress and spanish moss; and mixed dead trees (killed by chemical works) near West Lake (possibly Westlake), Louisiana.
