Abstract

Field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa, June 11 - October 19, 1935. Pages are numbered. Entries are dated and describe observed cuts in terrain along railroad lines, shells collected, lists of mollusks, loess observed, geological sections and rough sketches of shell locations, and hand drawn maps. Terrain descriptions include layers, composition, color, appearance, and measurements. Several entries begin with description of location with a combination of county, town, streets, and landmarks.
