Abstract

The diary documents Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, Illinois, August 27, 1934 - November 13, 1935. Pages are numbered. Entries are dated, and describe dated lists of expenses, travel details (locations, modes of travel), weather, descriptions of terrain (layers, colors, composition, measurements), geological sections, destinations and distances, shell fossils found, lists of plants observed, daily work, descriptiond of terrain around streams, cuts in terrain, and bluffs. Notes describe fieldwork in western Missouri and Ozarks in September, 1935. Locations include Lewistown, Waterford, Otter Creek, Havana, Erion, Chandlerville, Green Valley, and Pekin, Illinois.
