Abstract

The field notes and diary (2 of 2) document Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, August 22, 1934 - September 11, 1936. Some entries are dated and include lists of destinations and distances, lists of plants observed, travel details, dated lists of expenses, shells collected, rough sketches relating to locations observed, fossils found, geological sections describing (layers, color, composition), and hand drawn maps. Notes describe a variety of terrain including plains, bluffs, river banks, and woods. Locations include the vicinity of Lyon County, Hawarden, Diamond Lake, and Gull Point, Iowa.
