Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, September 1, 1932 - November 18, 1933. Entries are dated and often include lists of plants headed by type of terrain and location, with notes. Some entries describe plant specimens collected, lists of recordings of distances (possibly mileage), weather, dated lists of expenses, travel details, and plant counts. Some notes are crossed out. Sites visited include variety of terrain, including quarries, sandy prairie, and woods. Sites are sometimes described with the use of landmarks. Locations include Amana, Fort Madison, Iowa City, Okoboji, and Muscatine county, Iowa.
