Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, March 11 - July 14, 1923. Pages were tabbed. Entries are dated and describe travel details, weather, daily activities, lists of plants observed enroute, and plants collected. Lists of plants are often headed with terrain type (prairie, alluvial terrain). Some plants listed include notes. Descriptions of terrain are often described in terms of the start and end point of the trip, a location range. Locations include sites across Iowa, in the vicinity of counties Johnson, Muscatine, Jefferson, Henry, Wapello, Monroe, Lucas, Osceola, Union, Madison, Polk, Powerbrick, Jones, Delaware, Clayton, Fayette, and Benton.
