Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, July 18 - November 11, 1922; September 28, 1924; August 17-22, 1926. Pages are tabbed. Entries are dated and describe trips across Iowa, observed terrain, and plant life. Most entries begin with travel details, weather, and follow with lists of plants, photographs taken, specimens collected, and dated expenses. Terrain described includes plains, "low places", "wet ground", areas along railroads, and quarries. Includes maps of sites observed, with notes. There are loose inserts. Includes a table of plants from 1926. Locations include the vicinity of counties Muscatine, Hardin, Franklin, Kossuth, Palo Alto, towns of Wilton, Bayfield, Decorah, and McGregor.
