Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in Iowa, Washington, DC, June 28 - July 12, 1913; Homestead, Iowa, October 3, 1914; Dill Hill, (state unknown), November 3, 1914; Wisconsin, New York, Ontario, April 16 - October 22, 1915. Entries are dated and pages are tabbed. Entries describe travel details, times of day, weather, observations of woods, lists of trees and other plants observed, plant specimens collected, terrain along railroads, photographs taken with descriptions, and lists of expenses. Several lists of plants are headed with date, location, and terrain type. Includes hand drawn maps. Includes details about a trip to New York City and Washington DC to present a paper, study museum collections of mollusks, and meet with colleagues; met with Bartsch in Washington, DC. Locations including the vicinity of Toronto, Canada; Homestead, Earlville, Adams, Swisher, Spirit Lake, Iowa; Green Bay, Wisconsin.
