Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in Audubon and Shelby counties, Iowa, December 12, 1912; August 13 - September 7, 1913. Entries are dated and describe travel details, weather, terrain (layers, composition, color, appearance, measurements,deposits of loess, presence of fossils), descriptions of cuts (numbered) in terrain along the railroads, list of trees observed at sites, geological sections, photographs taken (with descriptions), Some lists of plants are headed by location and type of terrain (prairie ridges). Locations include in the vicinity of Bowmans Grove, Corley, Polk,and Defiance, Iowa.
