Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota, April 13 - May 13, 1911. Entries are dated and describe travel, terrain (color, composition, measurements, appearance, rough sketches and geological sections), elevations, synopsis of letter from Professor J.H. Carman, and list of expenses. Terrain described includes bluffs, cuts in terrain for railroads (numbered), drifts, and river valleys. Locations include the vicinity of Lyon county, Okoboji, Des Moines, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; New Ulm, Minnesota.
