Entries are dated and describe trips taken, including methods and times of travel, weather, health of colleagues, photographs taken (numbers, descriptions), exchange of fossil specimens (bones, shells), terrain observed (composition, appearance, color, measurements) with rough sketches, lists of expenses, cuts in terrain along railroad lines, lists of plants seen, and lists of maintenance for local schools. Described locations (cuts, bluffs) are often numbered. Some notes are crossed out. Locations include Okoboji, Akron, Council Bluffs, Eldon, Sioux City, and Chillicoth, Iowa; and Florence, Nebraska (1910).
