Abstract

The field notes document Bohumil Shimek's work in Iowa, April 9 - June 12, 1909. Pages are numbered. Entries were dated and describe terrain observed including bluffs and cuts, describing layers, their appearance, color, composition, shells and bones found (fossils (?)), weather, hand drawn maps of locations observed, lists of plants observed per location, interactions with colleagues, photographs taken, and list of expenses. Locations includes the vicinity of the towns of Malvern, Glenwood, Turin, Logan, Iowa City; and counties of Muscatine, Monona, Harrison, and Mills, Iowa.
