Abstract

The field notes document Bohumil Shimek's work in Harrison and Monona counties, Iowa, November 25, 1908 - July 1909; and August 14, 1926. Notes are not chronological. Entries are dated and describe characteristics of terrain and trees (lists of type) observed enroute; social interactions; descriptions of cuts observed in terrain (labeled by letter and describe color, composition, and appearance of layers); lists of trees in groves; Details a trip to Wilson, Kansas, November 1908; table of temperatures per time of day in Bayfield, Iowa, March, 1909; Amana, Iowa, July 1909; lists of plants headed by type of terrain (deep woods, prairie); and list of plants near Ute, Iowa, November 1908.
