Abstract

The field notes document Bohumil Shimek's work in Monona and Harrison County, Iowa, September 2 - 16, 1908. Pages are numbered. Entries describe cuts into terrain, usually between two listed locations. Cuts are numbered and descriptions include appearance, color, fossils (shells), measurements, and compositions of exposed layers. Entries also include interactions with colleagues, notes about trees growing in the area, references to observed drifts, lists of plants seen, and photographs taken. Includes hand drawn maps of some locations. Locations include the vicinity of Turin, Castana, Council Bluffs, and Magnolia, Iowa.
