Abstract

The field notes document Bohumil Shimek's work in Harrison and Monona counties, Iowa, July 31 - September 1, 1908. Entries are dated and describe travel details (by railway), weather, of terrain enroute (timber present, drifts, cuts), discussion and analysis of water (table of data included) near railroad, lists of plant specimens collected, descriptions of collecting sites with local landmarks listed, and list of photographs taken. Descriptions of cuts are numbered and description color, composition, and appearance of layers, sometimes with sketches. Includes hand drawn maps. Locations include Logan, Iowa.
