Cuts are numbered and descriptions include details about layers, composition, color, appearance, measurements, fossils (shells). Some entries also describe communities visited. There is a list of elevations and locations, hand drawn maps , geological sections, and sketches. The loose map is of the vicinity of Helena, Arkansas. Locations include Natchez, Mississippi; Vicksburg; Helena, Arkansas; and Forrest City (state unidentified).
