Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in South Dakota, August 1906. Pages are numbered. Several entries describes cuts in terrain made for construction of a railroad. The descriptions are numbered and include measurements, color, composition, and rough sketches. This is followed by a discussion of Midwest rivers and streams as well as their movement of material (erosion) and plants in the vicinity. Some notes are crossed out. Locations include the vicinity of, but not limited to, South Dakota (Garretson, Sioux Falls, Yankton); Nebraska (Blair, Omaha); and Iowa (Council Bluffs).
