Abstract

The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work in New Mexico, Arizona, California, August - September, 1905. Entries are dated, and describe travel activities with time of day; terrain observed (colors, appearance, characteristics); plants (sometimes types listed) and shells observed and collected; description and composition of forests observed including types of trees; crossing the Colorado river at Yuma, Arizona; and interactions with colleagues. Includes list of box contents, including photograph descriptions, unidentified notes, and lists of expenses. Some are crossed out. Locations include the vicinity of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; Yuma, Arizona; and Los Angeles California.
