Abstract

The botanical notebook (4 of 6) documents Bohumil Shimek's work in Nicaragua, 1892-1893. The notebook covers ferns, mosses, and phanerogams of El Castillo de La Concepción. Entries are entered from the front and back of the notebook. There are three different specimen lists: numbers 526-565, and numbers 1-53 (for ferns), and A-U (for moss). Entries include descriptions of parts (fruit), color, characteristics, measurements, location found (sometimes reference building or person), and surrounding terrain. Includes some illustrations of plants. Additional locations include Isla La Juana and Río Sábalos.
