Abstract

An inserted table of contents for specific locations is included at the beginning of the journal. This field book contains journal like observations of botanical specimens collected and seen between 21 April 1934 and 1 July 1935 in various islands in the Pacific including Kiribati (Kiritimati, Vostok Island, Flint Island and Fanning Island [Tabuaeran]), Tuamotus, Gambier Islands, Pitcairn Islands (including Henderson Island), Oeno Island, Austral Island (Tubuai Islands), and Society Islands (including Tahiti). Each entry has a number, presumably a collector number that refers to specimens discussed in the journal entry. These numbers range from 1200 to 1305. Also included is a list of localities for collector numbers 8658-10999 collected in the Hawaiian Islands (see vol. 3 for specimens). Additional notes inserted between page 172 and 173.
