Abstract

This item includes a 12 page list of specimens collected by Lieutenant Willis Wittich, 21st Infantry, USA, with annotations and additions by the collector. This manuscript was compiled from notes and collections given to Mearns by Wittich while he was stationed at Fort Klamath, circa 1875. This item begins with a general description of the Klamath basin and birds there and is followed by a list of specimens, which includes measurements, date, scientific name, and age. This list is followed by "List of birds whose occurrence at Klamath is probably to be looked for, etc.". Examples of genera listed include but are not limited to turdus, agelaeus, and totanus.
