Abstract

Field notes, 3 of 4 materials, document Bohumil Shimek's observations in Nicaragua, February 10 - April 4, 1893. Entries are dated and include travel details (expenses, destinations, travel times, methods of travel), colleagues and local inhabitants met, weather, plants collected, notes about logistics of plantations, communities, and environment seen. Includes a list of ferns in Nicaragua in the back of the notebook and note about a vessel relating to Hollenbock. Locations include San Carlos, Castillo(?), Isla de Ometepe, and Machuca, Nicaragua.
