PrintThe 14 black-and-white photographs document Edmund Heller's field work during the American Museum of Natural History China Expedition, 1916-1917. There are basic descriptions on the reverse side of some images. Prints are of various Asian peoples including Burmese, Bhutanese, Tibetans, Lipchas and Nepalese. Subject matter includes Burmese tattooing, candid images of individuals, and mostly portraits of individuals in traditional dress.
