PrintComprises the second of four field notebooks compiling Wetmore's observations and collecting efforts in Porto Rico [Puerto Rico] for the United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Biological Survey, February 16, 1912 - April 27, 1912. The entries are chronological, with journal style entries. Unlike the previous notebook, entries are not ended with a list of the day's collections, even though specimen collecting is discussed in the entry. Entries discuss: sites across the island, including caves, coastlines, higher elevations; preparing skins of specimens; sugarcane industry and effect on the countryside; presence and effect of mongooses; some discussion of bats. Collecting sites include the vicinity of Mameyes River, Río Piedras, El Yunque, and Fajardo, Hacienda Catalina and Santa Catalina in the district of Ponce, and Culebrita. |Beginning at the back of the notebook, he lists expenses, supplies, birdlists and related film (Mameyes River, Hacienda Catalina, Santa Catalina, El Yunque, and Culebrita), and specimens sent (by date).
