Abstract

This journal contains notes on cerion (genus of snail) colonies, snails collected, and birds observed in the Florida Keys from 13 May to 4 June 1916. Lists of birds observed are included throughout journal with locations, quantities, and sometimes sex. Bartsch's activities consist mainly of visiting cerion colonies. He also notes planting new colonies. Included are tables of data for cerion colonies b, g, and perhaps others, which provide length, diameter, and other measurements. Localities include but are not limited to Key West, Ragged Keys, Miami River, Indian Key, and Duck Key. One hand-drawn map is included. A typed list of locations Bartsch visited is included at the beginning of the journal.
