Abstract

13 black-and-white photographs document Edmund Heller's field work during the American Museum of Natural History China Expedition, 1916-1917. Some have captions on the reserved side. Prints are of expedition including participants, route, animals, equipment and Europeans and Americans met en route. Includes expedition traveling by foot along railroad tracks, loading supplies, candid images at campsites, and portrait of groups and individuals hired locally. Additionally, captions state that two photographs are Arthur De C. Sowerby at home in Tientsen [Tianjin] and Sammons House Boat party in Shanghai with names indicated on reverse side.
