Abstract

This is 3 of 5 handwritten journals by Edmund Heller documenting the American Museum of Natural History China Expedition, 1916-1917. Entries cover January 11 - May 1917. The field book is unbound, and entries are dated. Details include date, weather, time of day, daily activities, local customs and holidays, extensive descriptions of food, agriculture (rice), communities (temples), and people of areas traveled. Includes lists of vegetation, mammals and birds. Collected a variety of large and small mammal specimens. Locations include border of China and Burma [Myanmar].
