Entries cover September 18, 1916 - January 6, 1917. The field book is unbound, and entries are dated. Details include date, weather, time of day, daily activities, extensive descriptions of food, agriculture (rice), communities and structures (temples), campsites, and people of areas traveled. Includes descriptions of flora and fauna, sometimes in lists by location. These detail birds, rodents, and other mammals seen and collected, the environment where collected (including elevation), abundance, as well as collection and preparation methods. Locations include Yunnan and Szechuan [Sichuan], China.
