Abstract

The field journal of Edmund Heller covers his field work in Peru and South America, March to April 1915. Entries are dated and include information relating to a visit to the Lima Zoo, photographing animals, a bull fight, cruise to Valparaiso, vegetation and terrain, elevation, weather, reference to discussion of Incan hunting methods, descriptions of breakwaters around commercial ports, impressions of Peruvians met, birds observed, travel by train, visit to a race track, interactions with colleagues. Locations include Mollendo, Arica (now Chile), Iquique, Santiago, Cerro Santa Lucia, Montevideo. Most are assumed to be in Chile and Peru, but some locations are not determined with certainty.
