Abstract

This field book contains a specimen list of botanical specimens collected by Lyster H. Dewey from 7 May 1894 to 31 October 1900 mainly in the District of Columbia (Washington, DC), Maryland, and Virginia, but also Texas, Michigan, Louisiana, and Georgia. Collector numbers 1-506 are included. Entries include taxonomic name and description of soil and surrounding environment, abundance, rarity, and commonality. A variety of specimens were collected, but two frequently collected genera include carex and panicum. Dewey collected in many different parts of Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. Some localities follow: Glencarlyn (VA), Carlins (VA), Georgetown (DC), Glen Echo (MD), Brookland (DC), Decatur (MI), and Waterloo (VA).
