PrintThe 36 black-and-white photographs document Edmund Heller's collecting in Africa during the Rainey African Expedition, 1911-1912. Includes images of expedition camps, Africans, vegetation, expedition activities including groups collecting specimens, carrying lion specimens to camp, participants, portrait of expedition hired local inhabitants including gunbearers, Ndi brush burning, Ndi forest and planting scene, and African huts. Some images have detailed descriptions on the reverse sides. No negatives unless otherwise marked on print. Locations include Taita, Guaso Nyiro River [Ewaso Ng’iro], Lololoki and Loita Plains, British East Africa [Kenya].
