Abstract

Notes and comments document M. Moynihan's observations of and correspondence about Coraciiformes (kingfishers). Includes a summary of work on the kingfisher in northern Sumatra, indicating specific locations, individuals with whom he worked, vocal and physical characteristics of the birds, locations in habitat at a plantation, and citations. Includes a hand drawn map of bird locations in Parc National de Basse-Casamance, Senegal, November 8-10 (year unidentified); notes for October 14th, of birds observed with time of day; index of nesting incidents with page numbers; observations at New Delhi Zoo; correspondence with G.F. Mees of Rijksmuseum Van Natuurlijke Historie in reference to kingfishers in Sumatra and Java; and notes on kingfishers in Palau. Locations include northern Sumatra, Indonesia; Parc National de Basse-Casamance, Senegal; and New Delhi Zoo, India.
