Abstract

This field book contains field notes of collections Stelfox made from 28 January 1934 to 25 January 1935 in Ireland. Most specimens collected were insects, primarily hymenoptera. Other types of specimens may have been collected. Stelfox lists the name of the specimen, date collected, sex, quantity, sometimes remarks on the weather, location, sometimes specific type of environment, sometimes remarks about which specimens he would like to collect, sometimes additional information. Localities include, but are not limited to Emo Park, Clara, Kilcarny Bridge, Glenasmole, Glenmore, Caragh Lake (Caragh, Lough), North Bull, Kilkenny district, Sallins (Na Solláin), and Rye Water. 'R.C.L.P' following a name signifies that specimen were seen and verified by D. R. C. L. Perkins, F.R.S. This field book also includes the following correspondence: letter from R. C. L. Perkins to A. W. Stelfox about identifying sawflies, 1934, inserted between page 54 and 55; letters from Perkins to Stelfox with identifications, 1934 and 1935, inserted between pages 102 and 103. Pressed plant is included on page 125.
