Abstract

These field notes document Hurd's observations and collecting of squash bees, mainly on the host plant cucurbita, in Mexico from 30 July to 20 August 1962. Locations include but are not limited to Chapingo, Mexico City, Jalapa, Cuidad de Carmen, and Puebla. A lists of host plant and bees found/collected on them, with date and collector are included. Dates for these are from the 1950s and the collector is D. Perez Ruiz, not Hurd; it is possible these were research notes. A “List of cucurbitaceae of southwestern Mexico", which appears to be a field guide of squashes Hurd compiled, is also included. Other materials include “Notes for Paul Hurd on bus route from Mexico City to V.C.” and a map of vegetation of the peninsula.
