Abstract

This journal documents collecting events in Lassen Volcanic Park, California between 17 May to 17 July 1941. Hurd collects a variety of insects including beetles and hymenoptera. Hurd notes which insects are abundant, occasionally sex of insect, what type of host the insect was found on (ex. willow tree; chipmunk), air temperatures and elevation of the locality, and other information. Localities include, but are not limited to Manzanita Lake, Viola, Hot Creek, Hat Lake, Soap Lake, and Newport Bay.
