Abstract

The first of two notebooks (volume I) documents Thomas Vaughan's observations in Mexico, October 30 - November 14, 1920. Includes paste inserts -- correspondence, section descriptions, postcards, and map of Los Aldamas region of Mexico. Pages are numbered. Notes include a suggested itinerary; travel route with destinations and dates; daily work; sketches profiles of mountain ranges; fossil specimens collected (numbered); sections with description, color, composition and measurements of layers; postcards of locations visited, and descriptions of terrain with times of day. Locations include Valley of Rio San Paulo, Sierra de las Mitras, Los Gatos Guerreros, Tampico, Puerto Viejo, and Victoria.
