The typed notebook documents L. Walkinshaw's observations of birds in Florida and Michigan, January - 1987. The notes contain a variety of formats and content of observations of birds and their nests including date, type of bird, locations. Additionally more detailed notes include nest numbers, date, location (county, section, latitude and longitude, and sometimes directions) and descriptions of nests (construction, measurements, surrounding environment), parents (behavior), eggs (quantity, measurements, weight, description); table of bird observations from Florida headed with month; birds first seen for the year in Michigan (type, quantity, county, town, section, date); list of fields trips observing Sandhill Cranes and other birds in Michigan (date, county, township, range section, hours in the field, miles walked or driven, cranes seen); hand drawn maps of nest locations; journal style notes are filled in through out the notebook. Some notes at the end are hand written. Polk, Brevard, and Osceola county in Florida; Chippewa, Schoolcraft, Marquette, Iron, Alger, Delta, Missaukee, Montcalm, Shiawassee,and Ingham.
