The 2 typed notebooks documents L. Walkinshaw's observations of birds in Michigan, 1979. Includes a variety of content and formats. There is some duplication of observation data between the two notebooks. The first notebook (spiral bound) contains with a list of birds (when first seen for the year) in Michigan, listing species, quantity, location, date first seen and last seen; detailed descriptions of bird nests; a list of destinations of bird trips; and additional tables of bird counts and sightings across upper peninsula and southern Michigan. The second notebook contains bird counts; observations from Sandhill Crane study trips with location, amount of time observing, distance walked, and date; tables of bird observation data; journal style entries on bird nest observations; bird banding data lists with a combination of data. Some are organized by date, listing type, band number, and other unidentified data; others includes sex, age, hour, weight, band number, and measurements. Locations are throughout upper peninsula and southern Michigan.
