Abstract

The 2 notebooks document L. Walkinshaw's observations of birds during a trip across the western United States, 1978. The first notebook (small, green) includes dated entries with location, observers, time of day, and type of bird. It covers May 17 - September 18, 1978. The second notebook covers March 1978. Dated entries are journal style including travel routes, time of day, counts for a variety of birds; bird counts per state with additional location information and date; observations of bird behavior, some organized by date; sketches of nest locations; tables of bird, nest; and fledgling data. Locations include a variety of places in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, Montana, and Michigan.
