Abstract

The notebook includes notes on birds observed in Michigan and Wisconsin by L. Walkinshaw during 1970. Includes a variety of formats and content. Includes a list of when birds first appeared for the season listing type, quantity, location, and date. These are followed by detailed observations of nests of Sandhill Cranes. Includes descriptions of location (environment, vegetation), parents (behavior, appearance), nest (measurements, composition), eggs (quantity, measurements, weight), and follow up visit notes. There are hand drawn maps of observation sites. Additionally there are tables of data on Flycatchers and their eggs, some including those collected with catalog number. The majority of data on Wisconsin birds is in the back of the note book. Locations in Michigan cover the counties of Washtenaw, Igham, Kalamazoo, Livingston, Chippewa, Jackson, Calhoun, and Washington. Includes Haehnle sanctuary. Counties of Wisconsin include Wood, Racine, Jefferson, and Adams.
