Abstract

The typed field notes document L. Walkinshaw's observations of birds in Florida, 1988. Includes a variety of content and formats including color photographs and maps, some focusing on Sandhill Cranes. Often the notes are headed with location (including county, town, latitude and longitude, or property owner) and date. Includes table of birds when first seen for the season (including dates); tables of bird and nest information (with dates and locations); and detailed notes on bird nests. These include information about vegetation, environment, parents, hand drawn maps to locations, fellow observers, and sometimes followup observation notes. There a several versions of tables with data on bird eggs and measurements. Details use of piper airplane for observations. Locations in Florida include the counties of Polk, Osceola, Okeechobee, Highlands, and the locations of Green Swamp and town of Kissimmee.
