Abstract

The field notes document Walkinshaw's ornithological field work in Michigan, 1983. It begins with a list of first sighting of birds (includes a variety) for April - June. Data includes number, species, assigned number, county, township, section, and date. This is followed by Sandhill Crane observations April 30 - May 10, recording location, number of nests, hours, miles driven or walked, and date. Lastly it includes nest observations including date, location (county), description of nests (vegetation and environment), parents (behavior, position related to observer), eggs (measurements, weight, appearance), and outcome (detailing follow up observations). Counties in Michigan include Chippewa, Jackson, Ingham, Alger, Mackinac, and Calhoun.
