Abstract

Number 2 in a series of 1904 botanical field notes. This volume contains notes taken in Virginia, West Virginia, and perhaps other southeastern states from 26 May 4 June 1904. Collector numbers 10115-10203 are included. It appears as if catalog numbers were added next to collector numbers (ex. 10115=92850), which are probably Biltmore numbers.Boynton collects a wide variety of plants. One frequently collected genus is crataegus in the rose family. Locations include but are not limited to Seven Mile Ford (VA), White Sulphur (WV), Clifton Forge (VA), Tuckahoe (WV), and Pulaski (VA) . Boynton also includes descriptions of the specimen, descriptions of the soil and soil type, measurements, commonality and abundance, and additional information.
