Abstract

Three field books document the bird observations of L. Walkinshaw during 1969. The first notebook (marked Bharatpur on the back cover) includes a table of birds seen, listing type, date, and quantity; this is followed by dated observations of birds, listing type, sex, behavior observed, counts, and unidentified information. Covers dates February 2 - 9, 1969. Includes contact information for local inhabitants. Locations include Keoladeo [Bharatpur], India and Izumi, Japan. The second (small, yellow) includes a list of Normonton (Queensland, Australia) birds observed, January - February 1969. The third (green) contians dated, journal style entries and observations of cranes. Entries include daily activities, interactions with local inhabitants, bird counts, weather, notes on Japanese writing systems, and charts of high and low daily temperatures. Includes hand drawn map of locations visited in Queensland, list of contacts and their information, and notes for travel. Locations include the vicinity of Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan; Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
