The 2 field books cover the observations of L. Walkinshaw on a variety of birds and their nests in Michigan, during June 1, 1935 - June 17, 1937. First field book covers June 1 - May 3, 1936. Includes dated, journal style notes headed with location, and tables of data about nest contents. Entries detail observations made, sometimes mentioning other people, time of day, description of environment, and descriptions of birds and their nests. Includes list of bird weights by type of bird and date, and tables with nesting data. Locations include East Lansing and Battle Creek. |Second field book covers May 16 - June 17, 1937. The field book includes notes on Prothonotary Warbler nests with date, nest location, description, number of eggs, time of day and nest number, presence of bird, includes measurements per nest. Includes notes on destroyed nests, and measurements of birds caught. The locations includes Battle Creek.
