The 4 field books document L. Walkinshaw's observations in Michigan, 1918-1930. Pages are numbered. The first 3 field books have the same format and content: tables of birds seen during migrations with type (common name), date, section, location; list of species whose nests were found, include description of location either type of vegetation or reference to property owner, and number of young. The first book covers 1918-1920; second covers 1921-1923 in Eaton and Calhoun County; and the third covers 1924-1928 mostly in Calhoun County. The fourth notebook covers May 30 - July 13 1930 and contains dated, journal-style notes headed with location. Notes describe locations, bird songs, types of birds seen (with common name), weather, vegetation, and colors and appearance of birds. Includes references to observing with Aflred and Edith Dowding and Catherine Wahlstrom. Locations in Michigan include the vicinity of Calhoun and Eaton Counties, Township of Convis, and Battle Creek.
