Abstract

The field notes include behavioral observation of Gulls completed by M. Moynihan and two letters from Professor Niko Tinbergen, 1954-1956. Includes typed and handwritten materials. Notes are dated, and indicate location at the top. They come in a variety of formats. Some are ordered by topic. Includes weather, descriptions of birds, their behavior, appearance, and songs especially during breeding. Information often relates type of bird, age, sex, and type of plumage. Others are organized by time of day and observation. Includes sketches and bird counts. Some includes markings highlighting contents. Locations include Dog Lake, Damp Lake, California, Chincoteague Bay (Virginia), and Bronx Zoo (New York).
